We have an exciting opportunity for a MakerSpace Specialist position located at our campus in San Jacinto, CA. Under the general direction of the Director of Career and Workforce Programs, the MakerSpace Specialist coordinates and maintains the day-to-day operations of the District’s MakerSpace; operates equipment, completes administrative tasks; guides students and visitors through tutorial and technical tasks involving available equipment; is a resource for service, maintenance, and support of technologies; delivers brief trainings and orientations on the use of equipment; in addition to machine programming and operations. The MakerSpace Specialist is responsible for ensuring safety as well as assisting with the creation and monitoring of projects.- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assure materials are available for MakerSpace activities.
- Maintain an inventory of all required supplies, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Dispense, order, receive, store, and dispose of material, supplies, materials, and waste within established guidelines.
- Maintain the MakerSpace website.
- Assist with the development and preparation of quarterly, status, and financial reports as well presentations.
- Sort, file, and retrieve documents related to the MakerSpace including utilization data.
- Monitor the check in/checkout of MakerSpace users.
- Set up the MakerSpace according to the scheduled activities for use by students, visitors and other users.
- Maintain and oversees open lab hours and event calendars.
- Schedule and coordinate events with high schools and the general public.
- Monitor the MakerSpace to ensure that only fully qualified users are working in the MakerSpace during assigned operating hours.
- Return, prepare, maintain, and clean, all tools, equipment, and classroom furniture.
- Issue supplies, materials, tools, and equipment to students.
- Answer general questions.
- Operate equipment, tools, and machines in the MakerSpace
- Ensure that all MakerSpace equipment is securely housed and safe to operate.
- Assist users in the safe handling and operations of MakerSpace tools and equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment, tools, hardware, and software; perform minor repairs.
- Arrange for maintenance, repair, or replacement of MakerSpace equipment, tools, hardware, and software as needed.
- Use computers and software programs specific to the MakerSpace.
- Participate with other departments in the planning and preparation of MakerSpace special events.
- Utilize the MakerSpace equipment and software to develop products as requested by MSJC employees for aid in instruction, maintenance, and other uses across all campus locations.
- Work with other departments to design, develop, and manufacture prototype products for in-house use as requested.
- Use and enforce acceptable safety procedures, standards, and policies in the MakerSpace.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The incumbent should possess knowledge of:
- Computer programs, hardware, software, and instructional support materials.
- Experience working with the operation and processes involved with 2D/3D printing, scanning techniques, laser cutting, sewing, electronics, and the use of basic hand tools in a manufacturing or educational setting.
- Proficient with Google Applications, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, or other imaging, editing, and design software.
The incumbent should possess skills in:

The incumbent should possess the ability to:
- Effectively troubleshoot and problem solve a variety of equipment, hardware, and software.
- Organize and assist with individual and small group projects.
- Set up and operate audiovisual equipment.
- Operate a computer or mainframe terminal with minimal instruction
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including those from a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
- QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree (attach transcript); AND
- One (1) Experience with light-duty manufacturing equipment used for prototyping such as 3D printers, vinyl cutters, laser cutters, and circuit breadboards.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff

Substitutions:
Substitution for meeting the minimum qualifications for the college level education requirement are allowed as follows:- Sixty (60) semester units of college level study and three (3) classes (9 semester units minimum) in the discipline OR
- One (1) year of directly related experience in the classification of typical activities OR
- Credit instructional programs AND
- Two (2) years of directly related experience in the classification of typical activities may be substituted for up to thirty (30) semester units OR
- Career Education Instructional programs/disciplines AND
- Three (3) of directly related experience may be substituted for up to sixty (60) semester units
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of computer programming and/or computer assisted design
- Completion of 6 or more semester units of college level math with a C or better.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations related to OSHA compliance of bio-hazardous waste materials
- Three (3) years of experience providing technological/industrial support services in a manufacturing or educational setting.
